Requirements
Participants/learners will receive 9 hours of direct instruction. Participants also will have access to a series of training videos. Although watching these videos is not a requirement of the training, it is recommended. Therefore, time will need to be set aside at the beginning of the training to watch all (or at least some) of these videos. For all learners/participants, true false and multiple-choice exams will be posted for completion on the website. Each of these exams will cover one learning module. Each learner/participant must score 80% correct on each exam. Exams may be taken with the use of notes and PowerPoint slides although there is a time limit for each exam. Each learner/participant can take each exam up to 3 times in order to achieve the 80% correct. If, after the 3rd attempt, a score of 80% is not achieved, then credit for the entire course will not be available. The exam may be completed any time after the training portion is completed. That is, learners/participants may complete the exams immediately following the completion of the specific modules, at the end of the training phase, or during the consultation phase.
After finishing the training, the consultation phase will begin. Moreover, it is recommended that learners/participants begin planning for the consultation phase immediately. Specifically, each learner/participant must assess 3 children between the ages of 8 and 12 years during a 10-week period following the training. All measures must be administered to each of the 3 children. During an “off-line” consultation call with the trainer, the learner/participant will review scoring, interpretation, recommendations, and integration of written findings. Then, during a weekly scheduled group consultation call, the learner/participant will present the case in collaboration with the trainer. Each case will be allotted 30 minutes of consultation time for the presentation. Learners/participants must present their 3 cases and attend a total of 80% of all consultation calls in order to receive credit. For example, if a learner/participant presented a case on 3 separate weeks and remained on those calls for the entire 90 minutes, then an additional 5 consultation calls would need to be completed.
Other Requirements
All learners/participants will be required to participate in activities designed to evaluate the effectiveness of the project. These evaluation activities (surveys) will be linked to exam grades and competency metrics; however, the linkage will be achieved using unique IDs rather than names.
